Best Workplace Three-peat
WATERLOO (April 19, 2012) – For the third consecutive year, the Great Place To Work Institute has identified Lutherwood as one of Canada’s 50 Best Workplaces. In addition to being identified 12th overall in the medium-sized category, it was recognized as one of the top 10 best workplaces for women and was recognized as having demonstrated excellence in the pride category.
“This is an exciting achievement,” said Lutherwood CEO, Dr. John Colangeli. “We have long recognized that we must have a strong and healthy culture so that our employees know they are valued, respected and supported. The Best Workplace award is an honour and it is reflective of the daily efforts of each and every employee.”
The underlying premise of this annual survey is that employees feel they work for a great organization where they trust its leadership, take pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with. For over a decade, Lutherwood has focused on building a workplace culture that is invested in employee development, actively seeks out and acts upon employee input and creates a partnership with employees based on mutual trust and respect.
“We are honoured once again to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces,” added Sandra Watt, Chief of Organizational Learning and Development. “Great workplaces do not just happen; they are built over time and are grounded in a solid foundation of trust and a genuine sense of caring for each other regardless of role or position. When people feel valued, cared for and invested in - you have the primary ingredients for a great place to work.”
The annual Great Place to Work survey researched more than 230 Canadian companies from all sectors. The two part evaluation includes a questionnaire for all permanent employees and an audit of human resources policies, procedures and practices. The results are compared to benchmarked results of other organizations. More information is available on the Great Place to Work website at www.greatplacetowork.ca.
Lutherwood is a not-for-profit organization that provides a wide range of children’s mental health, employment, housing and family counselling programs. Lutherwood annually serves more than 20,000 people in Waterloo Region and Wellington County.
