Transcript for: Learn more about Front Door
Front Door Child and Youth Mental Health is the first place to go in Waterloo Region when a child or youth is experiencing mental health, emotional or behavioral challenges.
We support families with children and youth from birth up to their 18th birthday. Offering a safe and confidential environment where you can share your concerns and take the first steps towards wellness.
Whether it's parenting support, emotional well-being, self harm or suicidal thoughts, behavior concerns, school difficulties, or peer struggles, we're here to help guide the way with our free services.
Our trained professionals understand the challenges that young people face and the stress that families experience. We're also well connected to services across our community and beyond.
The best way to reach Front Door is by phone. When you call, one of our resource and information coordinators will listen, ask a few questions to understand your needs, and guide you to the most appropriate next step.
Whatever language you speak, if translation is required, please let us know and that can be arranged. Based on your conversation and a brief triage assessment, we may recommend or refer you to one of the following pathways: Community services that match your needs, mental health providers within Starling Community Services or the community, quick response and walk-in counseling, crisis services for urgent situations, a more detailed assessment and referral through Front Door, or a Children's Mental Health System adviser to help you navigate complex needs.
Our goal is to make sure you're connected to the right support quickly and clearly. We meet families where it makes the most sense for them. In their homes, out in the community, or at one of our offices across the region. And the first step is to always call us.
At Front Door, we believe every child and youth deserves the chance to thrive. And no family should ever have to navigate mental health challenges alone.
Whether you're a parent, child, or youth, caregiver, service provider, or community partner, we invite you to reach out and connect. Call Front Door at 519-749-2932 to get started.
If you're unsure what the next steps are, your job is to call us and our job is to help.
