The holiday season is meant to bring joy, warmth, and connection. But for many children and families supported by Starling Community Services (formerly Lutherwood), it is often the hardest time of year. Instead of celebration, many are facing rising costs, food insecurity, and the struggle to cover basic necessities like heat and electricity, all while trying to support a child in the midst of mental health challenges. Last year, we saw a dramatic increase in families reaching out for help, and this year the need is expected to grow even greater.
