Due to inclement weather resulting in unsafe travelling conditions, the following are CLOSED today:

  • All three Lutherwood Employment Service Locations (Cambridge, Guelph and Kitchener) are CLOSED.
  • Lutherwood's Housing Service locations (Cambridge and Kitchener) are CLOSED.
  • Lutherwood's school program is CLOSED today. See WRDSB's announcement.
  • Front Door and Walk-In Service is CLOSED.

Here are 5 ways you can support your child (and yourself): 1️⃣ Acknowledge Their Feelings: Validate their feelings and encourage open, age-appropriate conversations where they can express their concerns without fear of judgment. 2️⃣ Limit Overexposure to News: Set healthy boundaries for news consumption and choose specific times to check in and focus on credible, balanced sources. 3️⃣ Model Calm Behavior: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, practice self-care strategies that can help both you and your child regulate emotions. (Children take emotional cues from their parents!) 4️⃣ Teach Healthy Coping Strategies: Introduce mindfulness techniques like deep breathing and journaling to help manage stress. 5️⃣ Highlight Positive Stories: Remind your child that amidst difficulties, there are always people working to make the world a better place. Share stories of kindness and community support to foster hope. It’s natural to feel anxious during uncertain times, and your child may be looking to you for guidance.
