Taking Some Big “Steps for Kids”

Join 500 people, walking 5,000 steps to raise $100,000 for children struggling with their mental health.

WATERLOO (April 21, 2015): To launch Children’s Mental Health Week, Lutherwood is hosting its annual Steps for Kids fundraising walk. This year’s event is expected to attract 500 walkers to raise awareness of the need to support children’s mental health and raise funds for children and youth learning to cope with their mental health issues through Lutherwood.

Presented by RBC, Steps for Kids is a fun and inspirational 3 and 5 km walk through the beautiful countryside of north Waterloo.

“This event provides help and hope to those youth struggling with mental health challenges, sending them the message that we walk together to support them,” said Donna Buchan, Executive Director of the Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation. “It’s a terrific way to build community and enjoy a great experience outdoors while supporting an important cause.”

Steps for Kids will take place on Sunday May 3rd, 2015, at Lutherwood’s Children's Mental Health Centre at 285 Benjamin Road in Waterloo.

"My daughter has come a long way. She is more mature, controls her emotions, and deals with conflict. She knows how to reframe and steer back to a more appropriate response. She fits in with her peers and we have a better relationship now."
