Hockey Helps the Homeless Kitchener-Waterloo – Be A Game Changer
After an exciting first year, the second annual Hockey Helps the Homeless Kitchener-Waterloo Tournament on October 30th at RIM Park is shaping up to be an even bigger and better event.
Hockey Helps the Homeless is a one day pro-am hockey tournament where individuals share the rink with former NHLers and women’s team Olympic Gold Medalists. Participants fundraise for local homelessness organizations and receive the full pro experience.
Men and women players 19 years of age or older and of all skill levels are encouraged to sign up and play. Players are required to fundraise a minimum of $350 before tournament day, and all funds raised stay in Kitchener-Waterloo. Last year, the tournament raised$80,000 for local homelessness organizations, including Lutherwood.
Hockey pros that are already confirmed for the October event include Stanley Cup Winner Mike Krushelynski, Olympic Gold Medalists Jayna Hefford, Jenelle Kohanchuk, Rebecca Johnston, Jocelyne Larocque and Leafs Alumni Darryl Shannon and Dave Reid.
Team registration is now closed, but we are still seeking individuals players for a short time yet. The process is easy; just visit www.hockeyhelpsthehomeless.com to sign up today.
Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH) is a nationally registered charity that coordinates and executes one-day fantasy hockey tournaments where men and women get a chance to play with hockey greats and raise funds to address the needs of the estimated 250,000 people who will experience homelessness in Canada this year.

"New to Canada and without Canadian work experience, I was struggling to get a job and find a place to settle and feed my family. Lutherwood helped me get a food allowance and find a place to live."
