Compass Program Returns

WATERLOO, January 4, 2012 - Lutherwood is pleased to announce that our COMPASS program has returned. COMPASS supports 16 – 30 year olds who are looking to find and maintain meaningful employment. Funded through Service Canada, this comprehensive two-part program provides young workers with an opportunity to enhance skills and gain hands-on work experience in a construction or trade field.

The first part of the program consists of participation in workshops designed to prepare individuals for full-time work. Workshops topics include:

  • Construction and Trade Orientations
  • Employer Expectations
  • Resume Development
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Basics of Fall Protection
  • Customer Service
  • Workplace Occupational Health and Safety
  • Employment Standards and Human Rights
  • Workplace Tours
The second part of the program engages participants in a 14 week work placement with a local employer.
Think that COMPASS might be the right fit for you? For more information, call us at 519-743-2460 or visit our downtown Kitchener location.
"I was in a cycle. I would be okay, then would struggle, then would crash and self-harm. Lutherwood had people there for me, always helping me. Instead of turning to self-harm, I learned to sit in my anxiety and feel it, to build awareness and resilience. Now, I am more confident and I know what I want in life. I miss the incredible staff there."
