Children's Mental Health Week (May 2-6)


Lutherwood has launched two initiatives as part of this year's awareness building efforts for Children's Mental Health Week.

Helping Your Teen Cope Seminar

On Thursday May 5, Lutherwood is holding its third of four free children's mental health seminars at St Benedict's Catholic Secondary School Lecture Hall, starting at 7:00. This seminar helps parents understand the teenage stage of life and offers effective parenting strategies to enhance development and manage difficult issues. Radio Advertisements

Working with partners to break down the stigma of mental health is important. This year, kidsLINK and Lutherwood teamed up to produce two radio advertisements promoting Children's Mental Health Week. Sofia Hostetler and Bekah Dueck provided writing and two of the voices featured in the spots. The ads will air three times a day on CHYM FM, KIX FM, and 570 NEWS during Children's Mental Health Week.

What an inspiring day at our annual Newcomer Career Conference in Guelph! We welcomed a great group of passionate newcomers eager to take the next step in their Canadian career journey. She was just 14 when she disappeared. And sadly, she's not alone... Human trafficking is the fastest-growing crime in Canada, and it’s happening right here in Waterloo Region. Some children are never reported missing. Some have no one to turn to. But every single one deserves someone who cares enough to act. At Safe Haven Youth Services in Downtown Kitchener, we meet kids in the aftermath, when safety has turned into trauma, when trust has been shattered, when there’s nowhere else to go. And we say: “You’re safe now.” But we can’t keep saying those words without you.
