Children's Mental Health Week (May 2-6)

Lutherwood has launched two initiatives as part of this year's awareness building efforts for Children's Mental Health Week.

Helping Your Teen Cope Seminar

On Thursday May 5, Lutherwood is holding its third of four free children's mental health seminars at St Benedict's Catholic Secondary School Lecture Hall, starting at 7:00. This seminar helps parents understand the teenage stage of life and offers effective parenting strategies to enhance development and manage difficult issues. Go to our Speakers' Series webpage for more information.

Radio Advertisements

Working with partners to break down the stigma of mental health is important. This year, kidsLINK and Lutherwood teamed up to produce two radio advertisements promoting Children's Mental Health Week. Sofia Hostetler and Bekah Dueck provided writing and two of the voices featured in the spots. The ads will air three times a day on CHYM FM, KIX FM, and 570 NEWS during Children's Mental Health Week.

"Immigrants can have issues with languages, workplace cultures, and a lack of a network of people. Starling listened to me and offered great advice. Local employers should consider hiring recent immigrants as we have so much to offer and are looking for a chance to prove ourselves."
