The next time you stop by Lutherwood’s Cambridge office, you will notice that the location has received some renovations over the summer. The space is now more open and welcoming, and thanks in part to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, there is now an elevator to improve accessibility of our services!

Construction At Lutherwood Cambridge
Construction begins at 35 Dickson Street.

“We have a full second floor of services that was only accessible via stairs,” said Employment Services Manager Margaret Penner. “We have Child and Parent Place and Housing Services, and on Tuesdays we have Front Door Quick Access. Previously, when a mother with a stroller or someone with a disability came in, we had to find an available office on the first floor to accommodate their needs.”

This accessibility project follows Lutherwood’s values and complies with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements for making sure everyone receives the help they deserve, regardless of ability and circumstance.

New Elevator In Cambridge
The new elevator officially in service!

The entire office was under construction from the end of May to the end of August. Melloul-Blamey Construction Inc. was incredibly efficient and considerate; taking extra measures to make sure our staff’s and clients’ safety and comfort was always first. To keep spirits up during the construction disruptions, the staff even made an ongoing competition they called Survivor: Construction Island.

The staff at 35 Dickson Street in Cambridge along with our CEO John Colangeli, Cambridge MPP Belinda C. Karahalios and the Ontario Trillium Foundation are celebrating the official opening of the renovations and elevator with an Open House and would love for you to join us.

Drop by anytime Friday November 1st from 2-4:00pm for refreshments, a few quick words from our speakers and a tour of the facility and our programs.

"I don’t think I’d have a place to call home right now if it was not for the support I received from Lutherwood’s PATHS2Home Program.”
