Leadership Message
In a world where uncertainty has become the norm, Starling Community Services (formerly Lutherwood) continues to move forward with confidence – guided by our mission and vision, strengthened by our dedicated staff and community partners, and inspired by the people who turn to us for help. As you will read in this Community Report, we have embraced change by innovating to create new programs and by continuing to work closely with community partners to meet the evolving needs of our community.
For those facing challenges related to mental health, employment, or housing, confidence is often the first and most difficult step toward change. Yet, it is the driver that helps them ask for support, persevere through challenges, and achieve their goals. Clients have proven this time and again. Clients like Dan, who found confidence from his experience moving out of homelessness to tackle life’s challenges. Omaya drew from her Lebanese healthcare experience to seek a better life with her children in Canada. Hailey discovered how to communicate and work with her daughter as they navigated mental health challenges together. And Vinny, seeing the impact of mental health struggles in his students, was inspired to do stand up comedy to raise funds for children’s mental health.
To everyone who walked alongside us over the past year – our staff, donors, funders, volunteers, community partners, and the clients who trust us with their toughest challenges – thank you for all you have done to support our mission.
